The Pikes Peak Honor Orchestra, hosted by Colorado Springs School District 11, is offered to both middle and high school students in the Pikes Peak region. Auditions are submitted in November through the students' public school teacher, rehearsals are held in the evenings in January (see the Schedule drop-down for more information) with a culminating concert in mid-late January. Students have the opportunity to work with other string students, as well as wind/brass/percussion students from other area schools. They also have the opportunity to work under a guest conductor - an expert in the field. Previous guest artists have included Dr. Timothy Hsu (CSU-Pueblo), Andrea Myers, Jay McGuffin, Dr. Bob Kreutz, Cameron Law (composer), Dr. Brandon Matthews (MSU-Denver), Susan Day (composer), and Dr. Lindsay Fulcher (UNC-Greeley).
