This guide will help you prepare for a successful audition and participation experience.
Before you begin...

Students who audition are expected to attend all rehearsals and the concert except in cases of illness or emergency.

Audition Process
Record
Use your phone or computer to record an audio-only recording of your audition in the order it appears on the page.

Ensure your file is an MP3 - use an online converter if needed​
Mp3 to teacher
Send your recording file to your teacher BEFORE the audition deadline!
Eligibility & Responsibilities

Current middle or high school string student
-OR-
high school band student

Attend a school (public/charter/private) in the Pikes Peak region

Be a member of your school music ensemble

Have a music teacher willing to support PPHO

Attendance Commitment
The success of the Pikes Peak Honor Orchestra depends on every student being fully prepared and present.
​
Students and families should carefully review the rehearsal schedule before auditioning. By submitting an audition, students are making a commitment to attend all rehearsals and the concert, practice their music independently, and contribute positively to the ensemble.

We appreciate your commitment to making the Pikes Peak Honor Orchestra an outstanding musical experience for all participants.
Preparing Auditions​

Complete the online registration form

Prepare and record an MP3 audition

Submit the recording to your school music director

If Selected for PPHO...
-
Pay the $50 participation fee by the first rehearsal

​Payment is accepted by cash or check ONLY (payable to Pikes Peak Honor Orchestra)

Prepare for rehearsals through personal practice and listening to recordings
-
Arrive at rehearsals prepared with your instrument, music, and pencil - with enough time to be tuned and in your seat before the downbeat

Demonstrate respect for conductors, clinicians, staff, volunteers, and fellow musicians

Represent your school positively

Participate actively in rehearsals/sectionals

Attend all rehearsals, sectionals, and the concert
**Because rehearsal time is limited, absences should only occur in cases of illness or emergency**
